Multilayer boards
Most design being done are for multilayer circuit boards with layer count from 4 to 12 layers with upwards of 16 to 22+ layers. This is due to chip pin-outs that are much denser, such as Ball Grid Array (BGA). Ball Grid Array pin counts can be more than 1,000 pins in just a 40mm square area.
